Blackboard for PC (formerly Blackboard Learning Management System) is a virtual learning environment and learning management system developed by Blackboard Inc. It is web-based server software that features course management, customizable open architecture, and scalable design that allows integration with student information. authentication systems and protocols.
Users can access it via WiFi or any cellular network, as long as they are on Android or iOS. The trade-off is that they now have to make an in-app purchase before using the app ($ 1.99 for one year or $ 5.99 for “unlimited” access).
While the Dropbox integration is a welcome addition to the BBML app, it does little to improve the functionality needed by both students and instructors. In the last two years since the app’s introduction, there have been some stylized changes and a mobile proofing tool has been added, leaving many of the core tools in the Blackboard for Windows app.
A great example for students would be the lack of an option to submit an assignment. While the integration between tools like Dropbox could bring developers closer to making this option a reality. Students already use iPads and Android devices to create and edit assignments. Teachers lack the ability to access the Grade Center via BBML, an issue our institution would like to see resolved soon. Too many features are missing in the app and too many use the standard Blackboard interface without modification.
The Blackboard for PC application has many features. These are some of its keys.
Blackboard App – The Blackboard PC App allows students to access their courses on the go. They can participate in real-time virtual classes and discussions, take assessments, and get assignments, notes, and reminders with the notification-based system. The application is available on Apple and Android devices.
Blackboard Analytics: With this feature, administrators and students can measure their performance in a specific class or program. Students can access their Student Dashboard to track their activity compared to their peers. Administrators can filter and drill down on their data on specific metrics, such as students at risk of failing grades or tools that are used more or less in a course.
Integration: Blackboard Learn has a partner network of more than 300 content management tools and other third-party tools, so organizations can integrate it with their existing systems. It also connects to the Blackboard Collaborate virtual classroom tool.
Blackboard is designed for academic (K-12 and colleges / universities) and corporate settings. Within the corporate environment, Blackboard is aimed at companies of all sizes and industries.
